3 killed in mob lynching on suspicion of cow theft in Gazipur

Three people were lynched on suspicion of cow theft in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur. At that time, locals set fire to a truck carrying them. The incident took place on Sunday (May 10) morning in Bagchala village of Fulbaria union of the upazila.
Police said that there was anger among the locals as cow theft has increased in the area for the past few days. When some people entered the area in a truck in the morning, locals surrounded them on suspicion of cow theft. Although some managed to escape, they caught 3 people and gang-raped them. 1 person died on the spot. Two of the injured were rescued, one died on the way to the hospital and another died after reaching the hospital.
Police also said that the bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. They also said that the incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken against those involved. Meanwhile, additional police have been deployed in the area after the incident.
