12 Bangladeshis killed in Iran war

So far, 12 Bangladeshis have been killed in the war that has spread across the Middle East since the US and Israel attacked Iran at the end of last February. Of these, five died in Lebanon, three in Saudi Arabia, two in the United Arab Emirates, one in Iraq and one in Bahrain.
Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury gave this information in the session of the National Parliament on Thursday (July 9) afternoon. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram is presiding over the session of the Parliament.
Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that a total of 186 people, including 12 women and eight children, have been brought back from Iran with the funding of the wage-earning Welfare Board during the war situation in the Middle East. In addition, expatriate workers are brought back from various countries at different times during various natural disasters and war situations.
He also said that 12 people have been killed in the Middle East war so far. The body of one of them has been buried in the relevant country. The bodies of nine people have been brought back to the country and their families have been provided with Tk 35,000 from the airport for burial and Tk 50,000 as a special grant for those killed in the war.
The minister said that two freezing ambulances (at Dhaka and Sylhet airports) and one ambulance at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport have been added to the ambulance fleet to transport sick and deceased workers from the airport. There are also two more ambulances at Dhaka Airport. The process of purchasing 200 trolleys is underway to facilitate the luggage of expatriates at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. 10 wheelchairs have been provided to injured and sick expatriate workers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to facilitate boarding and disembarking.
He said that the process of setting up a lounge for expatriates, providing healthy food at a 30 percent discount and setting up a medical corner (first aid) for primary medical services is underway at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.
