11 killed in Pakistan bus-van collision
Rescue officials said that at least 11 people were killed and seven others injured when a van hit a passenger bus near the Ismaila area of the Swat Expressway in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Samaa TV reported this news.
According to initial information, the bus was standing on the side of the road. At that time, a speeding van came from behind and hit the bus with force. Rescue officials claimed that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the van driver. He lost control of the vehicle and hit the back of the stationary bus.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Police also confirmed the collision between a van and a bus on the Swat Expressway. After receiving information about the accident, the Motorway Police quickly reached the spot and started rescue operations. The spokesperson said that the bodies of the dead and injured have been taken to the Mardan Medical Complex for medical treatment and legal proceedings.
Police said that the passenger bus was going from Karachi to Buner. On the other hand, the van was going from Rawalpindi to Dir. Officials said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. However, it is initially believed that the main cause of this tragic accident was the negligence of the van driver.
