1 killed, 17 arrested in clash between five villagers in Bhanga, Faridpur
Police have arrested 17 people, including one killed, in a clash between five villagers in Bhanga, Faridpur. They were arrested from Hasamdia and Atadi areas in a raid conducted at midnight on Tuesday (June 30).
According to police sources, a youth named Suman Sheikh was killed in a clash between two parties last night. 17 people have been detained for questioning in the incident after conducting a raid all night. Police patrols have been strengthened in the area to avoid any untoward incident. In addition, preparations are underway to file a murder case in this incident.
Earlier, a clash broke out between five villagers on the expressway in the Bhanga bus stand area from 6:30 pm to 10 pm yesterday due to old enmity. At least 20 people were injured and two were shot. Later, the two shot victims were rescued and brought to Dhaka Medical College, where one of them died. The deceased has been identified as Suman Sheikh. He is the son of Milan Sheikh of Kapuria Sadardi village in ward number 9 of Bhanga Municipality.
According to locals and police, four-five months ago, some youths including Faisal Sardar of Hasamdia village beat up Ibadul, nephew of Ismail Munshi of Kapuria Sadardi village. Then the matter was settled. But yesterday evening, after finding the boys including Faisal Sardar of Hasamdia village, the youths including Ibadul of Kapuria Sadardi village beat them up again. This incident triggered a clash, in which people from five villages joined both sides.
In this regard, Bhanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said, a clash between the two sides on the highway lasted for a long time. In this, some of our policemen were injured. Several tear gas shells were fired. After trying to control the clash, we were able to bring the situation under control by 10 pm. I have received information that a youth from Kapuria Sadardi village was killed in this incident. Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident.
