Axios Report: Saudi Crown Prince Warns Trump About Attack on Iran

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has expressed concern about a possible major US attack on Iran. He expressed this concern in a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Saturday (August 1), US media Axios and the Associated Press (AP) reported this information.
Axios quoted a US official as saying that Prince Salman asked Trump for details about the attack plan and expressed his concerns. Another source familiar with the matter said that he (Mohammed bin Salman) urged Trump to de-escalate tensions and refrain from attacking.
The AP reported that a person familiar with the call said that Saudi Arabia fears that if the US attacks Iranian energy infrastructure or causes significant damage to critical facilities such as bridges and power plants, Tehran could retaliate by attacking energy facilities in Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia. Earlier, Trump said he had backed away from attacking Iran at the request of several Middle Eastern countries.
