ARSA commander shot dead in Rohingya camp
A leading and controversial commander of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) Md. Zubair was shot dead by miscreants in the Rohingya camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday (July 30) in the H/29 area of Rohingya Camp-8 West. The deceased Md. Zubair (34) is the son of Rahmat Ullah of Camp-8 West in Ukhia. Additional DIG Mohammad Siraj Amin, commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion in Ukhia, confirmed the matter.
He said that Md. Zubair, a resident of H/29 Block of Rohingya Camp-8 West under Irani Pahar Police Camp in Ukhia, was going from his house to the H/29 Block mosque on Thursday. At that time, when he reached in front of Ibrahim’s house, some terrorists fired about 5 rounds at him and fled. He died on the way to the MSF Hospital located in H/59 Block of Camp-8 West.
The commander of the Armed Police Battalion said that after receiving the information about the incident, the Irani Pahar Police quickly reached the spot and brought the law and order situation under control. He added that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the terrorists involved in the incident. He said that from the initial information received, it has been revealed that internal disputes and factionalism had been going on between the ARSA and RSO terrorist organizations for several days due to various reasons.
