Two killed in four-vehicle collision on Dhaka-Aricha highway
A four-vehicle collision occurred on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Dhamrai. Two students riding motorcycles were killed. At least 30 others were injured in the incident. The incident took place this Saturday (July 25) morning in Dhamrai Islampur area of Dhaka-Aricha highway.
The deceased are Abas Saha, son of Jagannath Saha, of Ashulia’s Dendabor area, Savar. He was a postgraduate student of Manikganj Devendra College. The other is Sujoy Saha, son of Ashutosh Saha, of Shivaloy Thana area, Manikganj. He was a Higher Secondary (HSC) examinee. Both of them are cousins. In the incident, 30 passengers of a bus and a covered van, including passengers of a private car, were injured. The injured were treated at nearby clinics and hospitals.
Savar Highway Police Station OC Saogat Alam told Jugantor that a passenger bus broke down in Islampur area of Dhaka-Aricha Highway on Saturday morning. Later, when the bus stopped on the road, a private car, covered van and motorcycle coming from behind suddenly applied brakes, causing another speeding independent transport bus coming from behind to hit the motorcycle, covered van and private car. Two students on the motorcycle were seriously injured. They were later rescued and taken to Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead. Savar Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahadat Hossain said that after receiving the information, the scene was inspected. The vehicles involved in the accident are being removed and traffic is being normalized. In addition, the families of the two deceased students have been informed. Further legal action will be taken based on the family’s complaint.
