Cockroach Janata Party to protest in Kolkata on Friday

The atmosphere of the ongoing protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar is now spreading to Kolkata. Cockroach Janata Party, protesting against the leaking of medical entrance exam question papers and allegations of irregularities in the education system, has taken the initiative to organize a procession in Kolkata. A formal application has been made to the Kolkata Police for permission for this. However, no permission has been granted by the police till the time of writing this report.
According to police sources, an application was sent to the Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police Headquarters and the Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch through e-mail on July 19 and 21. Party member Dedipya Gangopadhyay identified himself as the applicant.
The application states that the Cockroach Janata Party wants to take out a procession from College Square to Rani Rashmoni Road at 4 pm on Friday. It also mentions that around 1500 people can participate in it. Kolkata Police officials confirmed that the application has been received. However, no decision has been taken yet on whether permission will be granted or not.
Although police sources claim that whether permission is granted or not, adequate security measures will be taken to prevent any deterioration in law and order. Party member Dedipya Gangopadhyay said that no permission has been received from the police yet. A final decision has not been taken yet on what will be done if permission is not received.
However, he said that students and youth of Kolkata have been requested to participate in the program. At the same time, those whose names are involved in various corruption cases, including education corruption, have also been requested to stay away from the program.
The movement that started in Delhi has already started affecting various cities in the country. Students and youth have also gathered in Mumbai and Chennai in support of this movement. However, Mumbai Police said that no prior permission was taken for these rallies. College and university students have also participated in this protest program in various areas of Chennai.
Tension has increased in the national capital Delhi in the last few days over allegations of question paper leakage. There have been allegations of clashes between police and protesters around the program organized towards Parliament. Opposition parties claim that unnecessary force was used in peaceful protests. On the other hand, the administration claims that this measure was taken in the interest of maintaining law and order.
