Prime Minister presents rank badge to newly appointed Navy Chief

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and outgoing Navy Chief Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan presented the rank badge of Vice Admiral to newly appointed Navy Chief Rear Admiral Khandaker Misbah-ul-Azim.
The rank badge was presented at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Armed Forces Division of Dhaka Cantonment this morning (July 23). The Prime Minister congratulated the newly appointed Navy Chief. The new Navy Chief expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the Bangladesh Navy.
Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, Army Quartermaster General Lieutenant General Md. Shahinur Rahman, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq and Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon were present.
The new Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral Khandaker Misbah-ul-Azim, joined the Bangladesh Navy on 1 January 1987 and was commissioned in the executive branch in 1989. He completed his initial training with distinction in the Royal Malaysian Navy. In addition to higher education and military training at home and abroad, he obtained a PhD degree in Maritime Governance.
In a colorful career of almost four decades, he has performed various important command, staff and training-related duties of the Bangladesh Navy with great skill and professionalism. He has served as the Commander of the Chittagong Naval Region, Dhaka Naval Region and Submarines. In addition, he has served in various important positions including the Commandant of the Bangladesh Naval Academy. Besides serving as the Director of Naval Operations and Naval Planning at the Naval Headquarters, he has also commanded various warships and naval bases.
In addition, Vice Admiral Khandaker Misbah-ul-Azeem has played an important role in the United Nations peacekeeping missions in Lebanon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Most recently, during his tenure as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Oman, he played an important role in the development of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Oman and the welfare of the Bangladeshi diaspora. In recognition of his outstanding contribution in a colorful career of almost 40 years, he has been awarded various medals and honors including the Navy Medal (NBP), Naval Proficiency Medal (NPP) and National Purity Award.
