Two sentenced to death in two separate murder cases in Tangail
The court has sentenced two people to death in two separate murder cases in Tangail. The Tangail Senior District and Sessions Judge and the Special Judge’s Court judge gave the verdict on Wednesday (July 22) afternoon. The two have been acquitted as the charges were not proven. The convicts are Nazirul Islam Jihad (28), son of Mofizul Haque of Garbari village in Bhuiyanpur upazila, and Sohrab Hossain of Borni village in Delduar upazila.
According to the details of the first case, Mehedi Mustafa Rajib was killed in the Am Para area of Bhuiyanpur, Tangail on June 18, 2020. After a long judicial process and taking the testimonies of 15 witnesses, the Tangail Senior District and Sessions Judge sentenced Nazirul Islam Jihad, the accused in the case, to death. At the same time, the accused was fined Tk 1 lakh.
The details of the second case reveal that on May 5, 2021, mother Hazera Begum and daughter Nasrin Akhter were strangled to death in Delduar. In this incident, Hazera Begum’s son Mosharraf Hossain filed a murder case with Delduar Police Station as the plaintiff. After the judicial process of the case, the judge of the Tangail Special Judge’s Court sentenced the accused Sohrab Hossain to death. At that time, both were acquitted as the charges were not proven.
