8-year-old child raped in Ghatail

An eight-year-old boy has been accused of raping a child in Ghatail, Tangail. Police have arrested the accused Chanwar Hossain Talukder (52). Earlier, the victim’s mother filed a case with Ghatail police station on Tuesday (July 21) evening.
The accused Chanwar Hossain is the son of Khorshed Alam of Shaliabah village in Rasulpur union of the upazila. The victim’s mother said that on July 5, around 8:30 pm, she sent her daughter to the shop to get coils. On the way back with the coils, Chanwar took her to a local mango orchard and raped her by pressing her face. The child returned home bleeding.
She also said that after the incident, she was threatened to leave the area if she told anyone about the matter. The victim’s family was terrified as the accused was influential. She claimed that the accused Chanwar had sexually harassed the child before.
When asked about this, Ghatail Police Station OC Mokshedur Rahman told Jugantor that the accused has been arrested on charges of raping an eight-year-old child. A case has been filed after the victim’s medical examination. Further legal action will be taken after the investigation.
