Jamaat MP Enamul attacks Gazi Nazrul in strong language over secret marriage

A new controversy has arisen in the party after a video of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Satkhira-4 MP Gazi Nazrul Islam went viral on social media. This time, Advocate Gazi Enamul Haque, MP from Jessore-5 constituency of the same party, has publicly attacked the issue in strong language.
In an audio speech given on a WhatsApp group called ‘Think Tank’ on Tuesday (July 21) night, he raised questions about the issue of secret marriage. He said that no legal and Sunnah work should be done in secret.
Advocate Gazi Enamul Haque said that legal work is done in public, and immoral work is done in secret. You are continuing this marriage of his as a Sunnah! Whatever is agreed upon between a man and a woman in marriage, happens in a brothel, even money is exchanged there. However, brothel work is prohibited, and marriage is a Sunnah, which is done in public. Even Hindus get married secretly.
He further expressed his anger and said, “Who gave you the right to do any Sunnah or good deed in secret? Which Hadith or Sunnah taught you this? You want to continue immoral acts as Sunnah on the pretext of your position and status! How can you secretly marry a girl after a gap of 58 years and call her Sunnah? There is a provision in Islam to do halal things openly. How can some people try to justify the act done in secret with arguments? May Allah forgive me.”
Earlier, a video of Gazi Nazrul Islam went viral on social media since last Monday afternoon. Initially, some of his supporters claimed that the video was made using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. However, on Tuesday, several fact-checking organizations said that in their assessment, the video was not made with AI. Amid the controversy, Gazi Nazrul Islam made a statement on his Facebook ID at 12:01 pm on Tuesday. There, he claimed that on June 17, with the consent of his first wife, his second marriage was consummated at the residence of his second wife’s father. As a result, the allegations of extramarital affairs spread against him are not true.
He further said in the statement that on July 13, he went to the business office of his second wife’s father in Moghbazar in the capital with his first and second wives. When he went there, his driver and the second wife’s maternal uncle Obaidullah went out and entered the house with some strangers. He alleged that one lakh taka was taken hostage and extorted.
Gazi Nazrul further claimed that his used rented car was also seized and several lakh taka were demanded step by step. When he refused to pay the money, various threats were made. He alleged that the incident started due to past enmity with Obaidullah’s second wife’s father Md. Masum Billah and a family dispute.
He said in the statement that Obaidullah later recorded a video of a personal and intimate moment and spread it on various social media platforms including Facebook. He claims that the video is being promoted as an extramarital affair for political purposes, which is completely false, baseless, and intentional.
