3 people die after being electrocuted in Chapainawabganj
Three people have died after being electrocuted in Chapainawabganj. The incident took place at around 6:30 am on Tuesday (July 21) in the Borogharia area of Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj. The deceased are Hasina Begum (45), wife of Bhikhu Mandal of Badurtala village of Borogharia union of Sadar upazila, her niece Asha Khatun (32) and Asha Khatun’s baby daughter Mim Akhter (13).
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Ikramul Hossain said that Asha Khatun had come to visit her aunt Hasina Begum’s house with her baby daughter Mim. In the morning, she was climbing onto the roof using an iron ladder that was wet in the rain. The iron ladder got electrocuted when an electric wire got stuck in it. Asha Khatun was electrocuted while trying to climb onto the roof using the iron ladder. Later, when Aunt Hasina Begum and child Mim went to save him, all three were electrocuted and died on the spot.
He also said that on receiving information, the police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the three. The OC also said that legal action will be taken in this regard.
