1 person sentenced to death, 3 to life imprisonment in separate cases in Jamalpur

A court in Jamalpur has sentenced one person to death and three to life imprisonment and fines in two separate cases. Judge Md. Abdur Rahim of the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-1 of the District and Sessions Judge’s Court gave the verdict on Monday (July 20) afternoon.
The court has sentenced husband Hafizul to death and fined him in the housewife murder case. In addition, accused Shamim, Sadek and Jalal Mia have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined in the teenage girl kidnapping case. The state’s lawyer said that on September 4, 2012, her husband Hafizul beat and killed housewife Hanufa over dowry demand. The victim’s mother filed a case in the name of 5 people in this incident. After examining the evidence, the court acquitted 4 people.
Meanwhile, the accused abducted a teenage girl from Haripur area on December 22, 2024. Later, the police rescued the girl from Gazipur after the victim’s father filed a case with the police station.
