Two killed in Kushtia over dominance

Two youths were killed in a clash over dominance in Khokhsa upazila of Kushtia. Another person was seriously injured in the incident. The incident took place at around 1:45 am on Friday (July 17) in Devinagar village of Osmanpur union of the upazila.
The deceased were Faruk Hossain (40), son of Chand Ali of Devinagar village, and Abdul Sheikh (25), son of Atiyar Sheikh of Khanpur village of the same union.
Locals said that a clash broke out between the followers of Mintu Chowkidar and Selim’s group yesterday afternoon. Due to a dispute at night, Mintu Chowkidar’s supporters attacked Selim Hossain’s house with country-made weapons. At that time, Selim’s followers Faruk Hossain, Abdul Sheikh and Mulluk Mandal, who were present at the scene, were hacked to death with sharp weapons.
Faruk and Abdul Sheikh died on the spot due to sharp weapons. Locals rescued Mulluk Mandal in a seriously injured condition and admitted him to Kushtia General Hospital. He is undergoing treatment there.
In this regard, Khokhsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Molla Zakir Hossain said that the murder took place due to enmity between the local Mintu Chowkidar and Selim Hossain groups. Additional police have been deployed in the area due to tension. An operation is underway to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
