2 missing in Rangamati, 1 killed in landslide
Two people have gone missing in Rangamati due to continuous heavy rains. One person has died in a landslide in the district. The district administration gave this information on Thursday (July 9) afternoon. The district administration said that a grocery shopkeeper went missing in Bilaichhari Upazila Sadar of the district during heavy rains on July 7.
However, the local administration could not reveal his name. Meanwhile, on the same day, a person named Dalmani Chakma of Mogban Union of Rangamati Sadar was swept away by the current while swimming across the river. Sata has not been found yet. On the other hand, an old man named Lakshmi Vilas Chakma (60) died in a landslide in Baghaichhari Upazila of the district on the same day.
The local administration has provided financial assistance to the family of the deceased. In addition, two children were injured in a landslide in Kaptai Upazila of the district. Rangamati District Deputy Collector (NDC) Sheikh Salman said that the administration is working to identify the missing businessman in Bilaichhari.
