Grand Mosalla Mosque to be opened to public to pay respects to Khamenei
The body of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is being kept in the Grand Mosalla Mosque in the Iranian capital Tehran. The mosque grounds will be opened to the public to pay their respects today, Saturday (July 4). The BBC reported this information in a report.
It is estimated that more than 10 million people will gather in Tehran. In addition, representatives from at least 100 countries will be present in Tehran to pay their last respects to Ayatollah Khamenei. A total of 20 million people are expected to attend his last farewell ceremony in 5 cities.
Earlier, Khamenei’s coffin was unveiled at the Imam Khomeini Husseiniya Mosque in the capital last Thursday. The bodies of the Supreme Leader, his daughter-in-law, 14-month-old granddaughter, daughter and son-in-law were unveiled for the first time. They were martyred in a joint attack by the US and Israel.
Representatives from various countries and senior Iranian officials paid tribute to Khamenei on Friday. Bangladeshi Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed and opposition party representatives also paid tribute. After funerals in Tehran, Qom, and Karbala and Najaf in Iraq, the late Khamenei will be buried in his birthplace of Mashhad on July 9.
