Student dies after being hit by trolley in Bhola, protests with body on shoulders

A student named Lia Akhter died after being hit by a freight trolley on her way to a madrasa in Char Fashion Upazila of Bhola. The incident took place on Wednesday (July 1) morning on the Chairman Bazar-Shashibhushan road of Hazariganj Union in Shashibhushan Thana area of ​​Char Fashion Upazila. Lia Akhter is the daughter of Md. Shafiqul Islam of Hazariganj Union in the upazila and a class 10 student of local chairman Bazar Islamia Alim Madrasa.
Locals said that Lia left her house around 9:30 am today to take the madrasa exam. Later, a speeding freight trolley ran over her in front of Jalil Majhi’s house, killing Lia on the spot. Later, her classmates carried Lia’s body on their shoulders and protested demanding justice for the trolley driver who killed her.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shashibhushan Police Station Md. Firoz Ahmed confirmed the incident and said that the body has been recovered and sent to the morgue of Bhola 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy. The trolley driver has been absconding since the incident. Efforts are underway to arrest him. The deadly trolley has been seized.
