Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has destroyed a huge amount of drugs worth Tk 73 crore 75 lakh in Satkhira. The drugs were destroyed at the 33rd BGB headquarters at 11 am today, Sunday (June 28).
The BGB said that these drugs were seized during raids in various border areas in the last 16 months from January 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. These include liquid lead, LSD, crystal meth ice, chemicals for making opium, phensedyl, various types of foreign liquor and marijuana. They also said that criminal gangs are using Bangladesh as a transit route for drug smuggling. We want to send a clear message that any attempt to smuggle drugs using the country’s border will be suppressed.
Brigadier General Mahmudul Hasan, Commander of the South-West Region of the BGB, said that the BGB is preventing the possibility of drug smuggling at the border. In addition, the campaign against drug trafficking continues. Today’s action is not only part of the legal process, but also a tangible reflection of the national commitment to building a drug-free country.
