Main accused in Ghior housewife rape case arrested

RAB has arrested a young man named Sagar (28) from Dinajpur on charges of gang-raping a housewife from Ghior, Manikganj. He is the main accused in the case. This information was confirmed in a press release signed by Major SKM Sadman Hossain, Company Commander of CPC-3 of RAB-4, Manikganj on Sunday (June 14).
The arrested Sagar is the son of Md. Momin Mia of Dakshin Nowtara area of ​​Pirganj police station in Thakurgaon district. According to the press release, the accused Sagar, who was arrested on charges of rape, lives in Basudeb Bari area of ​​Ghior, Manikganj through marital ties. On Friday (June 5) of this month, the victim housewife (25) and her husband were on their way back from Daulatpur when five to six miscreants led by Sagar stopped them.
Later, the housewife was taken to a jute field near Sagar and raped. At that time, her husband was kept in a secluded place nearby. When the local people came forward after hearing the screams of the victim’s husband, the perpetrators fled. Based on the information provided by the locals, the victim filed a case with Ghior police station on Saturday (June 6) under the Women and Child Abuse Act, accusing Sagar as the main accused and several other unidentified persons. The following day, Saturday (June 13), a special team of RAB arrested Sagar from the house of Manjarul Islam in Banchaganj of Dinajpur district with the help of information technology. Major SKM Sadman Hossain, Company Commander of CPC-3, RAB-4 Manikganj region, said that the main accused named Sagar was arrested from Dinajpur based on information technology and secret information. He has been handed over to Ghior police station in Manikganj.
