US Ambassador pays courtesy call on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer

US Ambassador to Dhaka Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting was held at the Opposition Leader’s office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 11:30 am today, Tuesday (June 9).
The meeting discussed the overall political and economic situation of the country after the elections, the upcoming national budget, the prospects of bilateral trade and investment, various aspects of Bangladesh-US relations, and various issues of mutual interest.
In addition, the development of democratic institutions in Bangladesh, good governance, economic cooperation, and various regional and international contemporary issues were also discussed. Both sides expressed their hope to further strengthen the existing relationship based on mutual respect, cooperation, and understanding.
