Permanent security or stability cannot be achieved without accountability and fairness: Speaker

Speaker of the National Assembly Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that permanent security or stability cannot be achieved by force of power alone without accountability and fairness. He said this while attending an international conference organized by the Faculty of Security and Strategy of Bangladesh University of Professionals on Wednesday (May 20) afternoon.
The Speaker said that when the people trust the institutions responsible for security, national strength and sense of responsibility will move forward together. Moreover, national security is not the sole responsibility of the government or any specific institution, but it is built through the collective values of the country’s citizens, academics, researchers and the entire society.
He also said that a strong state is not built only on the basis of infrastructural development or economic growth, but rather it is built through conscious citizens, responsible leadership and the trust of the people. The Speaker said that the future generation will have to face an increasingly competitive and uncertain world. However, he urged the youth not to be afraid of this uncertainty but rather to instill a sense of preparation, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility towards the country.
