Russia’s nuclear drills
Amid rising tensions with Ukraine and the West, Russia has launched a massive exercise to test its strategic nuclear capabilities. Moscow released video footage of the military exercise on Wednesday (May 20).
The ministry said in a statement that the special strategic drills, which began on Tuesday (May 19), will last three days. The training is designed to ensure the readiness and rapid use of strategic nuclear weapons in the face of any potential external aggression or threat.
The drills already include ballistic and cruise missile tests. More than 64,000 troops from the country’s ground-based rocket forces, the Northern and Pacific fleets and the Air Force are taking part in the massive exercise. Moscow also released detailed statistics on the demonstration of military capabilities.
More than 200 strategic missile launchers and missile launchers are being used in the exercise. In addition, aircraft, 140 fighter jets and strategic bombers are also taking part. In addition, there is a fleet, which consists of 73 state-of-the-art warships and submarines and a total of 13 submarines, including 8 strategic nuclear submarines.
