Van driver killed, 6 injured in Gopalganj bus accident
A van driver was killed and 6 injured in a passenger bus accident in Gopalganj. The accident occurred on Monday (May 4) morning in Gopinathpur area of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Dhaka-Khulna Highway. The deceased has been identified as Jhantu Molya (45).
He is a resident of Charpara village of Gopinathpur Union and son of Akubbar Molya. Police said that a bus of Falguni Paribahan, heading to Khulna from Dhaka, reached the spot and hit a battery-powered easy bike and a van. Van driver Jhantu Molya died on the spot. Six passengers on the easy bike were injured. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital.
Bhatiapara Highway Police OC Roknuzzaman said that the deadly bus has been seized after the incident and necessary legal action is being taken. Upon receiving the news, Gopalganj District Council Administrator Sharif Rafiquzzaman visited the scene and inquired about the casualties.
