43,773 Bangladeshi pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia

A total of 43,773 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia in 110 Hajj flights so far during the current Hajj season. Hajj Office Director Md. Lokman Hossain said that a total of 110 flights have landed in Jeddah till 10 am today, Sunday (May 3). According to the Hajj Bulletin, 7 pilgrims have died of natural causes so far. Of these, 5 died in Mecca and 2 in Medina.
It also said that the Saudi medical team provided direct medical care to 9,175 pilgrims. In addition, 9,730 people received healthcare through the IT helpdesk. The director said that a total of 78,500 people from Bangladesh have been allowed to perform Hajj this year. A total of 660 organizations, including 30 main and 630 coordinating organizations, are managing the program.
According to airline-based data, 20,859 pilgrims have gone to Saudi Arabia on 51 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 15,888 on 39 flights of Saudi Airlines and 7,826 on 20 flights of Flynas. He further said that the remaining 34,543 pilgrims will go to Saudi Arabia step by step through designated airlines. Earlier, on April 17 at 11:57 pm, the first Hajj flight (BG3001) carrying 418 pilgrims left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah. The flight was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. According to the Hajj Office, out of the total pilgrims, 4,565 will perform Hajj under government management and 73,935 under private management. So far, the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka has issued a total of 78,316 visas. Of these, 4,455 visas are under government management and 73,871 are under private management. Subject to the sighting of the moon, the holy Hajj is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia on May 26. After the Hajj, the return flight will start from Jeddah on May 30. The last flight will depart for Dhaka on June 30.
