2 killed in head-on collision between bus and auto-rickshaw in Netrokona

Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Purbadhola, Netrokona. Three more were injured in the incident. The accident occurred in the Ilashpur area near the Purbadhola Fire Service Office on the Shyamganj-Birisiri Highway at around 8 am today (May 2). The deceased, Ainal Haque (57), is the son of the deceased Kashem Ali of Dakshin Kaldowar village in Purbadhola upazila. The identity of the other deceased has not been known.
According to police and local sources, a passenger bus of ‘Allah Daan’ Transport, bound for Mymensingh from Durgapur, collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw coming from Mymensingh. Ainal Haque died on the spot. Three more were injured in the incident. Purbadhola Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex. An unidentified person (approximately 50 years old) died there while undergoing treatment.
The injured in the accident are – Molla Mia (45), son of Kashem Ali of Dakshin Kaldoar village of Agia union of the upazila, Dr. Sara Tabassum Urmi (MBBS), a doctor working at Purbadhola Upazila Health Complex, and Md. Monir Hossain (23), son of Abdul Aziz of Phulpur police station.
Purbadhola police station OC Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun told Jugantor that after receiving information, the police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased. Efforts are underway to identify the other deceased. The driver of the fatal bus fled after the accident. Legal action is being taken in this incident.
