3 killed in lightning strike in Mathbaria

Three people were killed in a lightning strike in Mathbaria, Pirojpur. Yesterday, Wednesday (April 29) evening, Mosa Ayesha Begum (50), wife of Md. A. Salam of Harji Nalbunia village of the upazila, died. She was killed by lightning while going to the field from her house in the rain. On the same day, Md. Hasan (25), son of Md. Nabi Hossain, a resident of Jankhali village of Tushkhali union of the upazila, died. Hasan went missing after falling from a trawler into the river due to lightning while fishing in the Baleshwar river.
On the other hand, Swadhin Talukder (20), son of Mashiur Rahman, a resident of Sabuj Nagar village of Mathbaria Sadar union, died. Swadhin went missing while trying to bring cows to the field in the afternoon. After a lot of searching, his body was recovered from the field at night. Signs of lightning were found on his body. Mathbaria Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Aklima Akhter said that inquiries have been made about the deceased’s family.
