Two people, including a woman, died after being hit by a train in Rajshahi
Two people died after being hit by a train in two separate incidents in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi. An unidentified 35-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a train in the Holidagachi area of the upazila at 8:45 am today, Tuesday (April 21).
A 25-year-old youth named Sohag died after being hit by a train in the Habibpur area of Nimpara union in the same area on Monday night (April 20). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Railway Police Station Ziaur Rahman confirmed the matter.
According to relevant sources, when the Mahananda Express train from Rajshahi to Khulna reached the Holidagachi rail gate of Shalua union this morning, an unidentified woman jumped in front of the train. As a result, two limbs were severed from the woman’s body.
She died on the spot. At that time, people tried to identify the girl, but no one could tell her name. However, locals believe that the woman committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. On the other hand, a young man named Sohag died after being hit by a train in the Habibpur Kalabipara area of Nimpara union of the upazila last night. He is the son of Zulum Pramanik of Kalabipara village. Locals claim that Sohag was hit by the train while intoxicated. His body has been recovered and buried in the neighborhood. Ishwardi Railway Police Station OC Ziaur Rahman said that police have been sent to the spot. The body will be recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy.
