Painter dies after being electrocuted while working on building in Jhenaidah

A painter named Taiab Ali (44) died after being electrocuted while working on a four-storey building under construction in the Main Post Office intersection area of ​​Jhenaidah city. The accident occurred at the Akhter Pharmacy Market of the intersection today (April 19).
The deceased Taiab Ali is the son of Matiar Rahman of Haripur village in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. He was taken to the 250-bed Jhenaidah General Hospital in a critical condition, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Locals said that two workers were painting on the third and fourth floors of the building using a rope ladder. At that time, Taiab Ali was electrocuted after coming into contact with the high-voltage power transmission line of Ojopadiko, which was just one and a half feet away from the third floor of the building.
When he fell, some workers from a nearby shop ran to the roof of the fourth floor and tried to pull him up using a rope from the paint bucket. But losing control, Taiab Ali fell from the electric wire onto the muddy road again. He suffered a head injury and bled profusely. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the 250-bed Jhenaidah General Hospital.
Naimul Islam, a worker who worked with Taiab Ali, said that they did not have any safety belts while working and a high-voltage electric wire passed by the side of the building. SM Ashrafuzzaman Sajeeb, a doctor at the emergency department of Jhenaidah General Hospital, said that Taiab Ali died before being brought to the hospital.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station confirmed receiving the news of the painter’s death. He said that no complaint has been filed by the family yet. If a complaint is received, legal action will be taken later.
