Pedestrian dies after being hit by van in Jhenaidah
An elderly pedestrian named Shamsher Ali (75) died after being hit by a battery-powered van in Jhenaidah. The accident occurred in the Arappur area of Jhenaidah city on Wednesday (April 1) morning. Shamsher Ali is a resident of Bekhbinni village in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah.
In this regard, Highway Police In-charge Mrityunjoy Biswas said that Shamsher Ali currently lived at his son’s house in the Muraridaha area of the suburb. This morning, he was crossing the road at the Arappur intersection. At that time, a speeding banana-laden van hit him hard. Locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The police are trying to identify the killer van, the official said.
