Body of missing student recovered from Padma after 43 hours

The body of schoolboy Md. Arafat, who went missing while bathing in the Mawa Padma Bridge area of ​​Munshiganj, has been recovered. After being missing for about 43 hours, his body was found floating in the river on Tuesday (March 31) morning. Later, the fire service recovered it and handed it over to his relatives. The deceased Arafat was a class 10 student of Srinagar Pilot School.
Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Muhammad Shafiqul Islam said that on March 29 at around 2:30 pm, Md. Arafat went to bathe with his friends near Pillar No. 4 of the Padma Bridge. At that time, the four of them entered the water together, but three were able to swim to the shore. However, Arafat went missing.
Immediately after the incident, the Fire Service and Civil Defense and Bangladesh Coast Guard jointly launched a rescue operation. After a long search operation, his body was recovered from the area near Pillar No. 4 of the Padma Bridge at around 8 am on March 31. Meanwhile, a shadow of mourning has descended on the area after Arafat’s death.
