Gold prices rise again after 7 consecutive price cuts

Gold prices have risen again in the country’s market. After cutting prices seven consecutive times, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to increase prices this time. In a statement issued by the organization on Saturday (March 28) morning, it was said that the price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,157 per bhori to Tk 2,37,120. This new price has come into effect from 10 am today.
BAJUS said that the price of gold has been adjusted considering the overall situation due to the increase in the price of acid gold or pure gold in the local market. According to the new price, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) in the country’s market will be Tk 2,37,120. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori has been fixed at Tk 2,26,282, the price of 18-carat gold per bhori has been fixed at Tk 1,93,914 and the price of traditional gold per bhori has been fixed at Tk 1,57,931.
Earlier, BAJUS had issued a notification on Friday morning (March 27) to reduce the price of gold for the seventh time in a row. On that day, the organization reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 6,590 to Tk 2,34,855. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold per baht was fixed at Tk 2,24,182, the price of 18-carat gold per baht at Tk 1,92,164 and the price of traditional gold per baht at Tk 1,56,473. Which was effective from 10 am that day.
In this context, so far this year, gold prices have been adjusted 48 times in the domestic market. Where the price has been increased 27 times; reduced 21 times. And in the last 2025, gold prices have been adjusted a total of 93 times in the domestic market; where the price was increased 64 times and reduced 29 times.
Although the price of gold has been reduced, the price of silver in the domestic market has remained unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 5,365 per baht. Besides, 21 carat silver is being sold at Tk 5,132 per bath, 18 carat silver at Tk 4,432 per bath and traditional silver at Tk 3,324 per bath.
So far this year, the price of silver has been adjusted 29 times in the domestic market. While the price has been increased 16 times, the remaining 13 times have been reduced. And in 2025, the price of silver in the domestic market was adjusted a total of 13 times. Out of which it increased 10 times and decreased only 3 times.
