Israeli airstrikes kill 31 in Lebanon

At least 31 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon. 149 others were injured, the Lebanese Health Ministry said on Monday (March 2). Al Jazeera reported.
The strikes targeted Hezbollah targets in various parts of the country, including the Lebanese capital Beirut. The Israeli military said in a statement that it was striking the group’s bases “across Lebanon” after Hezbollah launched a major rocket attack on northern Israel.
The statement added that “Hezbollah will not be given the opportunity to pose any threat to the State of Israel. This attack will be met with a strong and powerful response.”
Al Jazeera reported that several powerful explosions were heard in the southern suburbs of Beirut (Dahiyeh), known as a Hezbollah stronghold. Israeli warplanes are indiscriminately bombing the area. Hezbollah had previously claimed responsibility for an attack on a military base in the Israeli city of Haifa in retaliation for the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
