Iftar for 6,000 people every day at Ahsania Mission in Satkhira

Six thousand devotees break their fast together every day at Ahsania Mission in Satkhira. A huge effort is made to prepare for the Iftar throughout the day. Devotees come from far and wide before the Maghrib call to prayer. This event has been held throughout the month of Ramadan for 90 years in the hope of pleasing Allah Almighty.
After preparing the Iftar, volunteers start distributing the food. Iftar is distributed seven times in a row on glass plates in a huge field. There are singara, boiled eggs, bananas, chickpeas, phirni, dates, chira and various nutritious foods.
Devotees come from far and wide before Maghrib. The field is filled with thousands of devotees to participate in the Iftar program. Six thousand devotees break their fast every day in this field of Ahsania Mission. All of which is organized through donations.
Abul Fazal, assistant secretary of Nalta Ahsania Mission in Kaliganj, Satkhira, said, “The cost of organizing Iftar is around Tk 2,60,000 per day. Some people bear this cost individually. Sometimes many people bear this cost collectively. Currently, around 300 volunteers are working here. Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah started this Iftar Mahfil in 1935, hoping to get close to Almighty Allah through worship and service of creation. After his death in 1965, his devotees and followers continued it.”
