Holy month of Ramadan begins today
The month of fasting for Muslims began today (February 19) as the moon of the holy month of Ramadan was sighted in the country. This announcement was made after a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee yesterday, Wednesday evening.
The month of Ramadan is considered a month of mercy, blessings and salvation for Muslims. Devout believers start their fast by taking Sehri in the morning. They break their fast by breaking their fast at sunset by eating Iftar. This month is celebrated with religious fervor through month-long fasting, Tarawih prayers, recitation of the Quran and charity.
Preparations for Tarawih prayers have been made in various mosques in the country, including the capital. An increased crowd has already been seen in the markets to buy Iftar items. The administration has also announced price control and market supervision of daily necessities. Muslims believe that Ramadan is a great opportunity to achieve self-restraint, piety and humanity. The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated at the end of this month.
