Prime Minister orders uninterrupted power supply during Sehri, Iftar and Taraweeh
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered uninterrupted power supply during Sehri, Iftar and Taraweeh during the month of Ramadan. The Prime Minister gave this instruction at the first meeting of the new cabinet at the Secretariat on Wednesday (February 18) afternoon. After the meeting, State Minister for the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque Nur briefed the media about this.
When asked what was discussed in the meeting, the State Minister said, “The Prime Minister reminded us that in order to achieve the good governance and accountability that the people want from us, the people in charge of our respective ministries should work above any kind of influence and nepotism, especially on the issue of corruption.” He said, “He also gave us instructions and discussed with us how to immediately implement some visible works, such as keeping the prices of goods normal as Ramadan is about to begin, ensuring uninterrupted power supply during Sehri, Iftar and Tarawih, ensuring the law and order situation remains normal and the government’s commitment, especially the issues that the Prime Minister had mentioned in public meetings at various places during the elections – family cards, farmer cards, health cards – as some of them.” Noor said, “In particular, it was announced by the Prime Minister that the government would take an initiative regarding Imams and Muazzins. He also discussed what can be done regarding Imams and Muazzins in a short time. Overall, all the issues were discussed.” The State Minister said, ‘Since I am in charge of two specific ministries, we tried to bring one issue to his attention from our side, a large part of our labor market is based in the Middle East. But along with the Middle East, the late President Ziaur Rahman played an important role in opening the labor market and it continued during the time of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. But in the meantime, due to various reasons, there has been a slowdown in it, the labor markets of many places have closed. If the Prime Minister visits the Middle East to open the labor market, it can open new doors of possibilities for us. I have said this on our behalf as well and on his behalf he has also given us some other suggestions which we will follow in our work.’ He further said that Tarique Rahman will take a 180-day plan.
