Housewife’s hanging body recovered from bedroom in Gaibandha
Police have recovered the hanging body of a housewife named Mrs. Mitu Rani Sarkar (25), who was found hanging with a rope around her neck in her bedroom in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. The incident has created a sensation in the area. The body was recovered from Komarpur village in Ballamjhar union of the upazila around 5:30 pm yesterday, Monday (February 16). The deceased Mitu Rani Sarkar is the wife of Ripon Sarkar of Komarpur area and the daughter of Dulal Mahanta of the same area. Their family has a three-year-old daughter.
Confirming the matter, Ballamjhar Union Parishad Chairman Zulfikar Rahman said that according to locals, there was a long-standing family feud with her husband Ripon Sarkar. It is alleged that the husband used to physically torture his wife at different times. After beating her several times, Mitu’s father Dulal Mahanta arranged for her treatment. It is believed that Mitu committed suicide out of pride during her last stay at her father’s house.
In this regard, Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun said that upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and prepared an autopsy report and recovered the body hanging from the roof of the house. Later, the body was sent to the morgue for autopsy. The OC also said that initially it is believed to be a suicide. However, an investigation is underway to find out the real cause of death. An accidental death (UD) case has been filed at the police station in this incident. Since the incident, grief and anxiety have spread in the area. Police said that the real cause of death will be known after the investigation.
