College student commits suicide in Mohakhali, capital

A college student’s hanging body has been recovered from a rented house in Mohakhali, capital. He committed suicide at his house in Mohakhali’s raw market on Wednesday (February 4) night. It is learned that the deceased has been identified as Ishtak Ahmed (21). He is the son of Afzal Hossain of Talukder Bari in Matlab upazila of Chandpur district.
The deceased’s cousin Md. Rashed said that he committed suicide by tying a cloth around his neck with a fan at his house in Mohakhali’s raw market last night. Later, his relatives found him and informed the police. After his rescue, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 1:15 am, where the doctor declared him dead.
He said, “The deceased Ishtak was trying to get admission in a university after passing the intermediate examination from Tejgaon College. However, I could not find out anything about why he did this.” Meanwhile, Inspector-in-Charge of DMCH Hospital Police Station Md. Farooq confirmed the matter and said, “The body has been kept in the hospital morgue.”
