Foreign Affairs Advisor Expects More Than 55 Percent Vote
Interim government’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain said, ’55 percent voted in the 1991 national election. I think more than 55 percent will vote this time.’ The advisor expressed this expectation at the closing ceremony of a training workshop organized at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (February 1).
Touhid Hossain said, ‘No election has been held peacefully. There were some problems. This time some incidents have occurred and measures have been taken about them. It is important to hold credible elections. The elections will be held peacefully, people will be able to exercise their right to vote.’ Regarding the referendum, Touhid Hossain said, ‘There were hesitations among many about the yes vote. Jamaat-NCP has already said yes. And later the BNP chairman said yes.’
He also said, ‘People will vote yes after listening to the party. Now that the big parties have said yes, I think yes will be very easy. Regarding the handover of diplomatic passports to advisors, the Foreign Affairs Advisor said, “Some advisors have already handed over diplomatic passports to get regular passports quickly and obtain the necessary visas. However, I have not handed over the passports yet.”
