College student dies in motorcycle accident with two friends
A college student named Shimul Hossain (18) was killed in a road accident while out on a motorcycle with his friends in Manirampur, Jessore. He died at a hospital in Dhaka at around 3 am on Wednesday (January 7). Earlier, Shimul was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with an easy bike in the Fakir Rasta area of the Jessore-Chuknagar road yesterday afternoon. The deceased Shimul is the son of BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Islam of Machna ward in Manirampur upazila. He was scheduled to take the HSC exam from a local college this year.
Manirampur Thana Swechchhasebakdal president Billal Hossain said, Shimul is my nephew. Yesterday afternoon, he left home for private studies. Then he himself rode a motorcycle with two friends towards Keshabpur. On the way back to Manirampur, they lost control of the motorcycle at the Fakir Rasta intersection and hit an easy bike. Shimul and two of his friends were injured after falling. He added that locals rescued them and took them to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex. Shimul’s two friends returned home after receiving primary treatment, but as his condition was critical, doctors shifted Shimul to Jessore General Hospital. Later, Shimul was taken from Jessore General Hospital to Dhaka for advanced treatment. He died at a hospital there around 3 am. “We have not received any reports of any college student dying in a road accident,” said Manirampur Police Station OC Rajiullah Khan.
