4 killed in head-on collision between truck and autorickshaw in Santahar

Auto driver Saidul Islam (54) was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a battery-powered autorickshaw in Santahar, Adamdighi, Bogra. Three passengers of the autorickshaw were also seriously injured. The deceased Saidul Islam is the son of the late Amjad Hossain of Indail village in the upazila. The injured are Renuka Khatun Jotsna (55), wife of Belal Mallick of Damdama village in Santahar union in Adamdighi upazila, Rozina Begum (48), wife of Tayez Pramanik of the same village, and Rafi (19), son of Abu Bakkar Siddique of Adamdurgapur village in Naogaon Sadar.
The accident occurred in front of the Baishakhi Automatic Rice Mill in the Khadir Bridge area of ​​​​Santahar Municipality town of the upazila on Friday (December 12) night. Police and locals said that last night, Saidul Islam was going to Santahar from Indail area of ​​Adamdighi with passengers in his battery-powered autorickshaw. On the way, when he reached in front of the Baisakhi Automatic Rice Mill, the autorickshaw collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The autorickshaw was twisted. The truck fled immediately after the incident.
In this incident, the fire service rescued four people including the auto driver Saidul Islam and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Saidul dead. Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Adamdighi Police Station Ataur Rahman said, “Further legal proceedings are underway in this incident.”
