Doctor commits suicide after leaving girlfriend on video call

A doctor named Anik Aadhar (35) in Rajoir, Madaripur committed suicide by hanging himself after leaving his girlfriend on a video call on his mobile phone. The incident took place at around 12:30 am on Monday (December 8) at a rented house on the third floor of the Nurjahan Community Center in the Shimultala area of ​​Tekerhat Bandar in the upazila.
The deceased Anik was a doctor in the emergency department (DMF) of the City Hospital and Digital Diagnostic Center in the Bridge No. 1 area. He is the son of Anjan Aadhar, a village doctor from Bajitpur village in the same upazila. The police sent the body to the morgue for autopsy this Tuesday (December 9) morning.
According to the police, hospital authorities and local sources, Anik had been working as an emergency department doctor at Tekerhat City Hospital for about 8 years. He lived in a rented flat on the third floor of the Tekerhat Nurjahan Community Center, where 24-hour treatment was provided. At the same time, the hospital’s X-ray operator, Nripen, lived in the next room. Last night, after providing medical care to patients as usual, Anik returned home and Nripen went to a Hindu religious music program.
At that time, Anik committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan after a fight with his girlfriend. Later, at around 12:30 last night, Nripen came and called him for tea. At that time, seeing the door closed, Nripen knocked but did not get any response, so he peeked through the gap in the door and saw Anik hanging. He immediately informed the hospital authorities. After that, he informed the Rajoir police station, the police came and broke the door and recovered the body. This morning, they sent it to the 250-bed Madaripur District Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Anisur Rahman, owner of City Hospital, said, Anik had been working in our institution for about 8 to 10 years. He was in a love relationship. Last night, due to a fight with his girlfriend, he committed suicide on a video call. Rajoir Police Station OC Sheikh Aminul Islam said, “The body was recovered this morning and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Initially, it is believed that she committed suicide by leaving a video call on her mobile due to love. However, some say that she is the alleged wife and some say that she is the lover. A case of accidental death has been filed in this incident.”
