An old man died after an autorickshaw lost control in Noakhali, 4 injured
An old man died when a CNG-powered autorickshaw lost control and hit the back of a bus in Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali. Four others, including the autorickshaw driver, were injured in the incident. The accident occurred at around 11:30 am today, Monday (December 8) in the Eklashpur area of the Maijdi-Chowmuhani regional highway of the upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanranjan Dey (60), son of Satyaranjan Dey of Alipur village in ward number 3 of Chaumuhani Municipality of the upazila. According to police and local sources, a passenger CNG-powered autorickshaw left the Chaumuhani intersection for the district town Maijdi at around 11:30 am today. On the way, the CNG suddenly applied its brakes and stopped in front. As a result, the CNG behind lost control and hit the back of the bus.
At that time, 5 people, including Dhanranjan, who was in the CNG, were seriously injured. Dhan Ranjan was immediately rescued and taken to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Chandraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed the incident and told us that the accident occurred when the CNG lost control. Police visited the scene after receiving the information. The CNG involved in the accident has been seized. He said that legal action will be taken after investigating the matter.
