Youth beaten to death in Keraniganj on suspicion of robbery

A youth named Razzak (35) was beaten to death in Keraniganj, Dhaka on suspicion of robbery. The incident took place at around 4:30 am today, Wednesday (November 19) in Dakshin Dhali Kandi village of Hazratpur union under Keraniganj Model Police Station. The deceased Razzak is the son of Rabiul Islam of Madhurchar village of the same union.
According to police and local sources, after hearing screams about a robbery, locals came out on the road around 4:30 am today and arrested a suspected youth, beat him to death and informed the police. Later in the morning, members of the Kalatia police outpost went to the spot and rescued the youth and took him to Mitford Hospital in Dhaka in a serious condition, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The body of the deceased has been kept at the Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.
When contacted, Kalatia police outpost in-charge Niru Mia confirmed the incident and said, “I have heard about it. However, I am currently in court to appear, so I cannot provide detailed information.” Later, Keraniganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Haque Dablu’s mobile phone was called several times, but he did not receive any calls.
