Iran has never sought to develop nuclear weapons, claims president
Iranian President Masoud Pjeshkian reaffirmed in a meeting with the new Austrian ambassador to Tehran, Friedrich Stift. Mehr News Agency reported that Pjeshkian welcomed the ambassador and referred to the positive and historical relations between Tehran and Vienna. He said, “The relations between the two countries have always been friendly, constructive and based on mutual respect. The Islamic Republic seeks to deepen and expand these relations in all areas.”
The president added, “Connections and cooperation with all countries on the basis of friendship, peace and common interests are the core of Iran’s diplomatic policy. Since the first days of the government, some individuals have tried to disrupt Iran’s peaceful international relations through false accusations and propaganda to cast doubt on the country’s nuclear activities.”
He stressed, “The Islamic Republic has never sought to develop nuclear weapons. The country’s nuclear program is for entirely peaceful purposes – for health, medicine, industry, agriculture, science and technology.” Pezeshkian wished the new ambassador well, expressing hope that he will accurately portray the true picture of Iran and help counter false propaganda.
