Motorcyclist killed in Laksam road accident

A motorcyclist named Shahadat Hossain Swadhin (27) was killed in a road accident in Laksam, Comilla. His friend Sajib was injured in the incident. The accident took place on the Laksam-Noakhali road adjacent to the old bus stand of the municipality on Tuesday (November 18) afternoon. It is learned that the deceased Swadhin is a resident of Gazimura village in Ward No. 7 of Laksam Municipality and the son of Md. Kamal Hossain, a rice and raw material trader in Daulatganj Bazar of the municipality.
According to police and eyewitness sources, two friends were returning home from Daulatganj Bazar on a motorcycle yesterday afternoon. At that time, the two friends riding the motorcycle fell on the road after a collision with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw. They were seriously injured after being crushed under the wheels of a fertilizer-laden truck. Later, locals rescued them and first took them to the emergency department of the Upazila Health Complex. Shahadat Hossain Swadhin died on the way to Comilla Medical College Hospital in a serious condition.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that one of Sajib’s legs was severed in the accident. He is currently undergoing treatment at Comilla Medical College Hospital. Laksam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazneen Sultana confirmed the incident and told us, “Upon receiving the news of the accident, the police immediately went to the spot. From there, the fertilizer-laden truck was seized and brought to the police station.”
