Father and daughter killed, 4 others injured in road accident in Sylhet

A father and daughter were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a private car in Dayamire, Osmaninagar on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway. Four others were injured in the incident. The accident occurred in front of the Darul Quran Madrasa in Dayamire in the upazila at around 8:30 am yesterday, Saturday (November 1). The deceased were identified as Md. Harun Mia (31) and his daughter Anisa Begum (8) of Khadimpur village in Umarpur union of Osmaninagar upazila. Eyewitnesses said that a non-stop bus bound for Habiganj from Sylhet reached Dayamire area at around 8:30 am when it collided head-on with a private car coming from the opposite direction. The father and daughter in the car died on the spot and four others were injured. Later, the injured were rescued and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Abdur Rashid Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police in Sylhet, told us that the bus and private car involved in the accident have been seized.
