Israeli attack on Doha, Qatar’s military capabilities under discussion

After the Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, discussions have begun on the country’s military capabilities. Twelve Israeli warplanes crossed their airspace and participated in the attack. No countermeasures were taken by Qatar after the missile attack by Tel Aviv. Although oil-rich Qatar is financially strong, the Israeli attack has exposed the weakness of its defense. Basically, Qatar is one of the oil-rich countries in the Middle East. Their position in the Arab world is quite strong. Last Tuesday, a dozen Israeli warplanes violated Qatar’s airspace and attacked. The attack was carried out in the diplomatic area of Doha. According to the 2025 Global Power Index, Qatar is ranked 72nd out of 145 countries in terms of military power. They have advanced weapons in naval, land and air defense. Although Tel Aviv is far ahead in this index. Israel, which ranks 15th in military power, does not seem to be taking anyone into account. Qatar has a total of 125 fighter aircraft to protect its airspace. Of these, 31 are fighter jets, including Rafale and German Typhoons. In addition, the army fleet includes 46 military helicopters and 12 transport aircraft. The country is looking to purchase more military aircraft from the UK, France and Germany. The Qatari army has a total of more than 87,000 military personnel. Of these, about 68,000 are active military personnel. In addition, the country has about 100 tanks and more than 5,000 armored vehicles in its arsenal. However, Qatar is far behind in naval power. The country’s navy has a total of 105 surveillance ships and 4 corvettes. In addition, the country has Hellfire missiles, drones and several short-range missiles in its arsenal. However, there are no nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles.
