Jamaat leader killed in Cox’s Bazar accident

A Jamaat leader named Jahangir Alam (45) was killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar. The accident occurred on Monday (August 25) night in the Monaf Farm area of ​​Bholaiyaghona on the East Gonakhali-Siradia road in Pekua upazila. The deceased Jahangir Alam is the son of Bakhteyar Uddin of Tekpara area of ​​Ward No. 2 of Pekua Sadar Union. He was the assistant secretary of Jamaat Islami’s Pekua Sadar Union Committee and the imam of Moiyadia Jame Mosque. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pekua Police Station Mohammad Sirajul Mostafa confirmed this information. Quoting locals, the OC said that Jahangir Alam was going to Pekua Bazar on a motorcycle after offering Isha prayers at Moiyadia Jame Mosque at night. When he reached Monaf’s farm area, he collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Jahangir fell off the road and was seriously injured. Later, locals rescued Jahangir and took him to Pekua Upazila Health Complex, where doctors shifted him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). The OC said that relatives of the injured Jahangir Alam took him to CMCH at night. He died before the emergency department doctors could bring him to the hospital on Tuesday morning. Mohammad Sirajul Mostafa said that the body of the deceased was handed over without an autopsy following the relatives’ request.
