Man dies in Patuakhali mob lynching on suspicion of robbery
One person was killed in a mob lynching over robbery charges in Bauphal Upazila of Patuakhali. He died while undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex on Sunday (August 24) morning. However, the police have not yet been able to identify the deceased. Another person injured in the mob lynching is undergoing treatment at the hospital. On Saturday night, at around 3:30 am, locals arrested two people on charges of robbery in Kashipur Bazar of the upazila and lynched them. They were later handed over to the police. After that, the police admitted them to the hospital. One of them died while undergoing treatment there. Locals said that a gang of robbers raided the house of Khalil Hawlader and Azhar Jamaddar, residents of Adabaria Union, late at night. At that time, they beat up the people of the house. At one stage, they took hostages and looted about 1 million taka in cash and a large amount of gold ornaments at the point of country-made weapons. At that time, when the victims screamed, two people were arrested at the scene. However, the other members of the group fled with the looted goods. Police confirmed the matter and said that one person died in the mob lynching. Their names and addresses have not been found yet.
